The Goal

At iCANthink, Our goal is to create better readers and better thinkers; Teaching and mentoring children with diverse needs to help with their reading, thinking and comprehension, resulting in better speech, communication and social skills.

At iCANthink we believe in the brain’s ability to change, reorganize, or grow neural networks. This can involve functional changes due to brain damage or structural changes due to learning.

The brain is one of the most important organ of our bodies and with latest research in the field of how brain functions, it is found that its neuroplasticity allows it to reorganize pathways, create new connections, and, in some cases, even create new neurons.

We believe in the power of brain and neuroplasticity and how with teaching the brain better ways to create solutions and think effectively, we can help children lead better lives

What the Research Says

Blog Post

Research suggests that the first few years of a child's life are a time of rapid brain growth. At birth, every neuron in the cerebral cortex has an estimated 2,500 synapses, or small gaps between neurons where nerve impulses are relayed.

By the age of three, this number has grown to a whopping 15,000 synapses per neuron. The average adult, however, only has about half this number of synapses.

And it is because as we gain new experiences, many connections are strengthened while some are eliminated. This process is known as synaptic pruning.

Neurons that are used frequently develop stronger connections (This is why REPETITION is the key).

Those that are rarely or never used eventually die. By developing new connections and pruning away weak ones, the brain can adapt to the changing environment.

Based on these learnings, we create material with enough repetition to help the child experience new stimuli while still giving enough frequent exposure to the current core skill.

Our simple aim is to create learners who can read with confidence and comprehension. Our worksheets are based on evidence and research to help fasten the child’s reading and understanding.

The ‘FUN’ visual and cognitive exercises help your child sharpen his thinking skills and help him ‘think’ instead of just rote learning.

The program grows with the learner and progresses at a pace where it’s neither too slow to bore the child nor too fast to lose him. The core of the program is to teach the child with FUN, REPETITION and CONTEXT!
